Evaluation
This is the answer in response to the question, in what ways does my media product use develop or challenge conventions of real media products?
In this slideshow i have shown what real media products we researched like most haunted and ghost hunters, i have gone into detail about what we thought of them and what ideas we have taken and developed from them to create our media products, ghosts, ghouls and paranormal happenings.
This is the second question, how effective is the combination of my main project and ancillary texts?
I have created a prezi presentation to show what i have researched like posters and radio adverts and how i have adapted my own and made them apply to my brief but also create a greater overall project.
Question 3 audience feedback
Audience Feedback Questionnaire Example
On a Scale of 1-5, 1 Being the highest answer the following;
1. How informative was Ghosts, Ghouls and Paranormal Happenings? _____
2. Did you find the documentary entertaining and enjoyable? ______
3. How atmospheric was the music? ______
4. How effective was the black and white effect at the beginning? ______
5. How eye catching was Ghosts, Ghouls and Paranormal Happenings? ______
6. How much does our documentary compare to professional documentaries? ______
This is a video of olivia answering our questionnaire, we asked her all the questions in our audience feedback sheet. over all i was very happy with the answers.
This is 2 videos of sam and emma we did not ask them the quesstionnaires we showed them the documentary and then asked what they thought the good and bad points of the documentary were.
Question 4 - how did we use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Here is just a list to show what items and technologies i used in cappturing, filming and editing my documentary
Sony XM2 - Used to film all my documentary footage.
Camera tripod - To stabalize the camera when filming the interviews.
Internet explorer and google maps - this was used to find all the information on how to get to our locstion Tatton Hall
Adobe Premier software - This software was used to capture the footage filmed on the sony XM2.Also used the software to edit the documentary such as cutting the footage up, effects such as transitions betweens shots i mainly used dip to black and crossfade. Also another effect i used was channel mixer which allowed me to change certain shots to monochrome creating an old aged effect.
Michrophone- this was used to capture just sound for the voiceovers, this gave us a much clearer sound and quality of voiceover
Adobe Photoshop - Editing software used to create the poster, layer mask was used because had to layer up the picture of location and off me and alex. i also had to use settings such as brightness/contrast, hue/saturation and changed the levels and curves to create a more dynamic and darker image.
Research
The Internet was beneficial when researching for the documentary i admit there was other ways of gaining research but this was more helpful than books as its more updated. This media tecnology helped to research different locations which we could possibly use.
Youtube - Youtube was beneficial in my reserch because it enabled me to research proffessional documentaries such as The Devil Made Me Do It .This research was to discover the different codes and conventions of documentaries.
Mobile phones - we had to use a mobile phone so that we could keep in touch with tatton hall so that it would be possible to film there.
hotmail/e-mail -this was used to origionally message people and places such as tatton, speke and walton hall.
Planning
Internet - To research ideas for our documentary.
Printer - To print out a questionnaire 30 times, this questionnaire helped us to establish a target audience and all the other aspects that we could put into our documentary.
Sony XM2 and Mic - Filmed our target audience answering the questionnaire.

Quesstionnaire and research
Paranormal documentaries.
Most haunted.
In this episode the team venture to the classic town of sleepy hollow i have chosen this episode to examine because this place is said to be haunted there is even a film based around it,
Tim burton was the director and it revolves around the story that a soldier was beheaded and he now haunts people of sleepy hollow looking for the killer who chopped off his head. i have chosen to look at this because the most haunted team has obviosly heard the ghost stories and then investigated there. This is what myself and alex may need to do, we need to find a place that is haunted and investigate there this will give the documentary our real emotions, fear and horror. i do not think that most haunted is a full documentary however it does have aspects to it that make it what it is. I feel it is an expositiory type as the narrator and presenter yvette fielding plays the voice of god over and between cuts. Factors such as rule of thirds are also used in interviews as shown below.
This is the brainstorm we made for all of our ideas for this documentary project

Formal proposal
There are a few topics running through our documentary, the most important theme is ghosts and the supernatural. these themes are throughout the documentary and there are other sub themes/genres such as horror and real life documentary.
We will need cameras, tripods we may need flashlights if we choose to go out on location at night to film a haunted location.
There are two types of documentary featuring in this film, it is mainly an expository documentary we will have the voice of god narrating the documentary and help it move along smoothly however it is also partly a participatory documentary. it will be participatory because it will be us in the interviews asking people the questions and it will also be us should we go and collect real footage.
From our questionnairre we know that the channel best suited for this documentary would be skyLiving at 9 oclock out audience must have felt this was a suitable time and channel as people know this chanel is for these type of films.
Our target audience is people from the age of 16-26 we feel that this is a really good age group and we think that at this age people are more open minded about supernatural and topics such as this.
the main primary research in the documentary will be our interviews that we undertake and set up and the footage that we collect and edit should we choose to go onto location and shoot first hand footage. We will be doing secondary research by looking at films such as paranormal activity and finding out statistics from around the globe about what peoples beleifs are in the supernatural, our music is also included in this category.
The narrative is going to be alomst like a timeline starting from one point and ending when we reaqch the conclusion it is strictly linear. we will be using

Questionnaire results
Presenting the results of questionnaire
this is the age question and as you can see out target audience is now 16-26 as these are the people who will be most interested.
as you can see from the pie chart below our audience most enjoy real life and supernatural documentaries we will have to try and incoreperate both of these into our documentary.
Paranormal activity was a huge hit in 2007 and scares most people, this uses hand held cameras and darkness to build suspense. this shows that people are interested in the paranormal.
Again this question just backs up the fact that people are facinated by the paranormal and would like to see a documentary with such themes.
The amount of people that have said they have watched a paranormal documentary shows us that there is a market out there for a documentary like ours.
And possibly the most important question here, more than half the people we asked would be interested in watching a paranormal documentary, know we know people will want to watch it we need to put all elements, codes and conventions into it to make it great.
This question was split evenly with 15 people beleiving in life after death and 15 not.

The Pied Bull, chester, cheshire -As the hotel dates back to the 11th century, it has its fair share of ghostly goings on and paranormal happenings, warranting an investigation by the television show ‘Whines and Spirits’. The ghost of a man is said to haunt the cellar and the cellar seems to be the hub of all of the paranormal activity, with some staff members actually refusing to go down there alone. The man who haunts the cellar is thought to be named John Davies, and in 1609 it was reported that ‘he casually fell down a flight of stairs leading to the cellar belonging to the pied bull, and with a knife in his hand… and died’. As well as the ghost in the cellar, two of the bedrooms are said to be haunted by chambermaids who used to work at the hotel.
Pubs
George and the dragon,chester-Not far from Chester’s Northgate arch stands the George and Dragon pub, an imposing Victorian black-and-white building seemingly haunted by the spirits of long-dead Roman soldiers.Over the centuries, both landlords and regulars of the pub have heard the drum of marching feet beneath the floors – following the route of the old Roman road. Strangely, the sound seems loudest in the cellars, closer to the original Roman ground level, which once stood several feet below the modern surface.
The Bulls Head, swinton near manchester reports of several apparations, the building dates back to the sixtinth century. it is said that there are links to the nearby church and underground tunnels this would be a great place to investigate.
Halls and mansions
Walton Hall (ghost hunting group- http://www.ghostlyshadows.co.uk/)
this is the screengrab from the walton hall website that i took just before getting in touch with them.
Speke hall could use the location and possibly people that work there if we get permission.
Speke hall has featured on the popular paranormal show most haunted, this is what gave me the idea of contacting them at speke hall, this would be a great location and would look really great, especially if we was allowed to film and have interviews in room or the grounds which are supposed to be haunted.
Tatton hall is another location we have contacted.
